    Get an early morning start with a drive through the stunning High Atlas Mountains. Your driver-guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech and head toward the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters), Morocco’s highest mountain pass, offering sweeping views of winding valleys, Berber villages clinging to the mountainsides, and rugged peaks beyond. The first major stop is the mudbrick Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Here, you’ll wander through the narrow passageways of this earthen city and climb to the top for panoramic views across the desert landscape. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue on to Ouarzazate, known as the gateway to the Sahara and home to Atlas Studios, one of the largest movie studios in the world. If time permits, explore the historic Taourirt Kasbah, once the seat of the powerful Glaoui family. After a full day of discovery, you will return to Marrakech in the evening, winding once more through the majestic mountains with unforgettable images of Morocco’s cinematic south etched in your memory.

At Ait Ben Haddou, Aziz walked us through the kasbah, explaining its fascinating history and unique architecture. His recommendations for lunch were excellent, and everything felt perfectly organized. Aziz made the journey both educational and fun, turning it into one of our best memories in Morocco.
